Physiotherapy for Back Pain
Low Back (lumbar) Pain
Low back pain can be both acute (a new injury) or recurring, and often very limiting.
A careful examination of your back and hips will help to identify the source of your pain. A specific source of pain will be addressed with appropriate treatments or exercises; improving wellbeing and reducing long term effects of wear and tear.
Mid Back (thoracic) Pain
Thoracic pain is most often associated with twisting or turning of your back.
If you have injured your mid back or are feeling ‘locked up’, a full assessment and hands on treatment will help to get you back to normal. Manual therapy treatments can give immediate relief along with a long term exercise plan to prevent further pain.
Sciatica
Pain radiating to the hip / leg is often due to impingement (pressing on) the sciatic nerve as it travels from your low back.
This can be caused by a bulging disk, tight muscles or bony spurs. Pain relieving treatments will restore comfort. When pain has eased, a gentle program of exercise will build up the strength and health of joints in your low back and hips.
